If anyone was getting tired after too many fashion week shows, Lucie Boshier's cabaret spectacular will have jolted them back to life better than any can of Red Bull. More burlesque show than fashion show, it featured sexy dancers, girls frolicking in giant champagne glasses and a very voluptuous, very hilarious drag queen in stockings and suspenders.
All the lacy, silky Lucie looks were there. Glittering and floral fabric abounded, as did fringing, which was shown off best in a fabulous black velvet lounging robe. I also loved the psychedelic floral fabric, which almost looked tie-dye.
All up, it was a great attention grabbing show, which will be wonderful for publicity. However I did find that I struggled to notice some of the outerwear amongst the sea of lingerie.
That said, the show ended on a perfect note. As all us hardened fashion folk sat there in prudish silence, our friendly drag host piped up with "Well, what the f*** did you expect?" And suddenly everyone could relax and have a laugh at themselves and this whole fashion affair that we take so seriously.
Thanks for helping us let loose for a moment Lucie!
