Lucie Boshier: spreading the woman-power message

If you haven’t yet been to Lucie Boshier’s Nuffield Street shop, then you don’t know what you’ve been missing.

The rainbow walls, the fantasy dresses, the sumptuous furnishings and the glorious trinkets; it really is a slice of paradise, complete with cascading fountain and pop-up Karma Sutra books. And of course, it is the perfect place to show off Lucie’s signature dresses. Wildly colourful, frilled, plunging and embellished, these are the type of dresses that make you want to hop on a plane to Mexico and dance the night away.

Lucie has done big things for such a young designer, perhaps due to her training under Patrick Steel, and mentoring from Trelise Cooper. She opened her first store in Kingsland in 2002, and somehow carried on after thieves stole every one of her garments within weeks of opening. In 2006, she moved to the exclusive Nuffield Street precinct, where we interviewed her.

Lucie is every bit as fun and colourful as her designs, and her shop is very obviously an extension of herself and the things she loves. She is passionate about spreading her woman-power message of love, positivity, body confidence and great sex - things she believes every woman has a right to enjoy.

We have been told to expect a spectacular show at Air New Zealand Fashion Week, and unlike many designers, Lucie is doing two additional public shows, which means there is no excuse to miss out. So get your tickets quick and find out why everyone is talking about Lucie and her Love Shop.
